Progress

The work continues at our house.

Tile Before

Lyndz and Sam with thier sharpies
All the tile has been torn out of the house and I'm down to concrete.  They took the doors off all the rooms that will have tile transition between the two of them so Logan has no door on his bathroom. We have two other bathrooms in the house but instead Logan just yells "don't come in here" and uses the doorless bathroom.  Boys! Before they took out the tile my kids and their cousins got out some sharpies and doodled on the tiles for awhile. Lyndsee had been looking forward to this all week and had a great time leaving her mark on our old tile.

The shower is done except for having the glass installed. The glass is coming on Saturday and then I can shower in style.

Island Before

The Island got torn out on Tuesday and they began installing a new, GIANT one. I think I will love it but it is going to take some getting used to.  We moved it a bit too and so we will cut the carpet back to accommodate the bigger island.  We couldn't put it exactly where I wanted it because of the location of the plumbing for the sink, but I think it will be great.  The granite guy came yesterday to measure and try to think about how they will get the granite on the Island. It's almost an entire slab of granite going on the Island and will not be a small job to get it on.  He suggested that I not be home while they are installing it, he said customers get really stressed out during that process.

The plan is still to start installing tile on Tuesday. I'm surprised how annoying it is to have just the concrete floor, it's dusty and rough and the whole house still smells dusty from taking out the tile.

My friend Alicia is going to Peru this summer to work in an orphanage there. She was telling us how the last crew of people her company sent there ran a water line from a spring to the orphanage so they wouldn't have to haul water anymore for their basic needs.  It makes me feel pretty petty being annoyed about not having a kitchen sink.  I have 5 other working sinks in the house and three bathtubs and toilets. These things are luxuries in alot of places and here I am "suffering" with concrete floors.

We are excited about the changes and are happy it will only be another few weeks.  Scott's been out of town for the last week so he has been lucky enough to miss the major inconveniences.  I have great friends and family who have fed me and the kids each night that I've been without a kitchen and we really appreciate it. When this all gets done we will have a party and invite all of you!
